Pharos History Through Fiction: Through the Fading Darkness, 18-Week Colonial History Course
An 18-week colonial American history course for grades 7–12, built around a novel of the 1774 Virginia frontier. Full course, no subscription needed. One family license.
Through the Fading Darkness is an 18-week course in colonial American history built around the novel of the same name by Zac Northup with Nancy Bruns. Students read or listen to the story of 1774 in western Virginia and the Ohio country, from the Yellow Creek massacre to the Battle of Point Pleasant and the peace at Camp Charlotte, then test it against the record: letters, ledgers, laws, newspapers, memoirs and the work of archaeologists and scientists. Every lesson asks the same question in a new way: what in the story is real, what is invented, and how do we know?
