1. The Mayflower Compact
  2. Signed November 11, 1620
  3. In the name of God, Amen. We whose names are underwritten, the
  4. loyal subjects of our dread Sovereign Lord King James, by the
  5. Grace of God of Great Britain, France, and Ireland King,
  6. Defender of the Faith, etc.
  7. Having undertaken for the Glory of God and advancement of the
  8. Christian Faith and Honour of our King and Country, a Voyage
  9. to plant the First Colony in the Northern Parts of Virginia,
  10. do by these presents solemnly and mutually in the presence of
  11. God and one of another, Covenant and Combine ourselves together
  12. into a Civil Body Politic, for our better ordering and
  13. preservation and furtherance of the ends aforesaid; and by
  14. virtue hereof to enact, constitute and frame such just and
  15. equal Laws, Ordinances, Acts, Constitutions and Offices, from
  16. time to time, as shall be thought most meet and convenient for
  17. the general good of the Colony, unto which we promise all due
  18. submission and obedience.
  19. In witness whereof we have hereunder subscribed our names at
  20. Cape Cod, the 11th of November, in the year of the reign of
  21. our Sovereign Lord King James, of England, France and Ireland
  22. the eighteenth, and of Scotland the fifty-fourth. Anno Domini 1620.
